National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik held a meeting on the afternoon of the 26th with K?stutis Budrys, National Security Advisor of Lithuania, and discussed bilateral relations and measures to respond to Russia-North Korea military cooperation, the Blue House announced.

Director Shin said, "Since President Yoon Suk-yeol's first visit to Lithuania during the NATO summit in Vilnius last July, exchanges between the two countries have been activated," adding, "I hope to further develop bilateral relations in various fields."

He then congratulated Advisor Budrys on his recent appointment as the new Foreign Minister and asked him to continue working hard for the development of bilateral relations.

Advisor Budrys said, "I have a strong interest in strengthening relations with Korea," and added, "While promoting high-level exchanges between the two countries, I hope to enhance cooperation in various fields such as security, defense, defense industry, cyber, and global issues."

Both sides agreed that the illegal military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, including North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia, is a serious issue threatening global security beyond the Korean Peninsula and Europe, and that it is further worsening the situation of the Ukraine war.

They also agreed to closely cooperate at the Korea-European Union (EU) and Korea-NATO levels, including their own countries, to ensure that the international community continues to send a firm message to halt Russia-North Korea cooperation.
