A citizen who rescued a high school senior attempting to jump off the Han River bridge after being disheartened by his CSAT scores received a letter of appreciation from the police.
Seoul Seongdong Police Station announced on the 26th that it presented a letter of appreciation to citizen A. On the morning of the 22nd, around 5 a.m., A received the letter for rescuing a student who was hanging over the railing at the midpoint of Dongho Bridge in Seongdong-gu.
On that day, A approached the student and tried to calm him down by saying, "Tell me what’s going on." After stabilizing the student, he rescued him and accompanied him to the nearby Oksu Police Substation, handing him over to the police.

The rescued student reportedly expressed his gratitude to A, saying, "Thanks to you, I have been given a new life. I will live diligently from now on."
A said he happened to encounter the student while exercising early in the morning. He said, "I never imagined I would save such a precious life at that time by chance," adding, "I felt that the student was meant to live."
He also added, "Anyone would have rescued him in that situation," and "I hope the student lives well from now on."
