During the administrative audit of Gyeonggi Province, there had been controversy mainly among members of the People Power Party in the Gyeonggi Provincial Council regarding the personnel issue of the newly appointed Chief of Cooperation, Kim Bong-gyun.
In response, Chief Kim Bong-gyun requested the Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs to suspend his council duties in order to alleviate the burden on Gyeonggi Province’s administration and resolve conflicts with the Gyeonggi Provincial Council. After internal discussions and gathering opinions from the council, Gyeonggi Province accepted Chief Kim’s request and decided to suspend his duties.
The province plans to determine follow-up measures related to Chief Kim’s suspension from council duties by consulting with the Chairperson of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council and representatives from both ruling and opposition parties.
