Kyungpook National University announced on the 26th that the student startup company ‘Nemo Gamsung (Squarify, CEO Juhwan Lim)’ won the ‘CES Innovation Award (CES 2025 Innovation Awards)’ in the Contents & Entertainment category at the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition, ‘CES 2025’.
This award is given to companies and products that have developed innovative products and technologies in the consumer technology industry, and it was announced in advance ahead of CES, which will be held in Las Vegas, USA, in January next year.
Nemo Gamsung, a participating company in the CES 2025 exclusive exhibition hall operated by Kyungpook National University, is a startup founded by CEO Juhwan Lim, a 2019 student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kyungpook National University, focusing on developing edutainment (education + entertainment) for the digitally marginalized. At CES 2025, they received the CES Innovation Award for their coding-based music production platform, ‘Humming Blocks’.
Humming Blocks is a set of blocks and an application that allows anyone to easily and enjoyably assemble blocks to produce (mix) music. With domestic patent registration and Korea Certification (KC certification) for product safety, the platform is based on proprietary algorithms that enable users to combine blocks and have them recognized by a smartphone to generate music.
In this process, all users, including preschool children and students with special disabilities, learn coding through tactile and auditory experiences, allowing them to experience education that utilizes various senses beyond digital screens. At CES 2025, it received high praise for its educational value as well as its accessibility and creative potential, enabling anyone to enjoyably create their own music.
Juhwan Lim, CEO of Nemo Gamsung, said, “I am very pleased that the potential of Humming Blocks has been recognized. Through this award, I want to offer an exciting and enjoyable coding experience to children all over the world and lead an innovative digital culture.”
