Silla University I-URP Project Group Successfully Hosts the 'National University Students Petconomy Startup Idea Competition'

Silla University 'Rebeupetros Research Institute' Team Awarded

Shilla University (President Heo Nam-sik) Pet Industry Specialized University Innovation Research Complex (I-URP) Project Group successfully completed the '2024 National University Student Petconomy Startup Idea Competition.'


The Shilla University I-URP Project Group held the '2024 National University Student Petconomy Startup Idea Competition' to discover innovative and challenging startup ideas in the pet industry fields such as animal welfare, pet food, pet care, pet fashion, pet tech, and pet living, and to promote youth startup culture among university students nationwide.


Applications for this competition, which were accepted until August 16, received a total of 25 team submissions. Through document screening based on originality and business feasibility, only 10 teams advanced to the finals.


The final round, held on November 14 at the auditorium on the first floor of the Biomedical Life Sciences Building 2 at Shilla University, featured presentations by the 10 finalist teams. Experts in the pet industry served as judges, evaluating the ideas primarily on feasibility and market competitiveness.


The Shilla University team 'RevPetLoss Research Institute,' which presented the pet loss circle application and web-based 'Bridge' idea in collaboration with pet loss support specialists, won the grand prize. The Busan National University team 'JH Bio,' which presented 'Eclair,' a cat litter made using biochar, received the excellence award, and the Hanyang Women's University team 'PETRIS,' which presented the integrated pet accessory 'PETRIS,' won the outstanding award. Kyung Hee University’s 'Go Ye-jin' and Hankyong National University’s 'Dr. Pro Pet' teams received special awards.


This competition, hosted by Shilla University with the goal of revitalizing the pet industry, is expected to create an ecosystem for pet-related industries through cooperation with the local community and to invigorate the regional economy.


The Shilla University I-URP Project Group plans to prepare various support programs and events to promote the development of the pet industry through startups and to lead the sustainable growth of related industries.
