Visit to the Motel Fire Site in Bongdam-eup

Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, visited the site of a motel fire in Wangnim-ri, Bongdam-eup on the 26th to inspect the accident response situation.


After confirming the cause of the fire and the situation at the site, Mayor Jung instructed the relevant officials to "thoroughly conduct safety inspections and establish recurrence prevention measures for fire-vulnerable facilities such as goshiwons and motels to prevent similar accidents."

The city plans to conduct emergency safety inspections focusing on fire-vulnerable facilities such as goshiwons and motels where foreigners may reside, as the risk of fire has increased due to the use of heating devices with increased indoor activities during the winter season.


Meanwhile, according to the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters, a fire broke out at a four-story motel in Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong City at 10:08 p.m. the previous night, injuring 18 people. The motel where the fire occurred has 30 rooms, and it is reported that about 10 of these rooms were occupied by guests.


The city activated an on-site response team related to this fire and provided temporary housing facilities, emergency relief supplies, and daily necessities to the victims. In addition, dedicated staff were assigned to each transported patient to monitor the health status of the injured, making every effort to manage the accident response.
