Evaluation by 3 Groups Considering Si/Gun Population Size, Selection of 9 Outstanding Institutions
Excellent Architectural Administration Cases Shared with Si/Gun to Promote and Solidify Superior Policies
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that it has selected nine cities and counties that excellently operated architectural administration as a result of the 2024 city and county architectural administration soundness evaluation.
The ‘Architectural Administration Soundness Evaluation’ is a system that annually evaluates the overall architectural administration of 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province, including Gyeonggi Province’s key policies, city and county self-plans, and architectural administration processing status, according to the Building Act.
The province combined the evaluation results of quantitative and qualitative evaluation indicators and separated them into three groups by population size. As a result, the grand prize was awarded to Anyang-si, Hanam-si, and Anseong-si; the highest excellence award to Yongin-si, Paju-si, and Dongducheon-si; and the excellence award to Bucheon-si, Gwangju-si, and Yeoju-si.
According to the evaluation results, the nine local governments selected as excellent institutions will receive institutional commendations along with awards for meritorious public officials, and the Gyeonggi Province Governor’s Commendation will be awarded to local architects.
Anyang-si, selected as the grand prize winner in Group Ⅰ, received excellent evaluations in areas such as ▲promotion of green remodeling of public buildings ▲enactment of the ordinance supporting Hanok architecture ▲establishment and implementation of plans for key provincial projects ▲regular inspection of publicly open spaces ▲and other participation in provincial administration.
Hanam-si, selected as the grand prize winner in Group Ⅱ, received excellent evaluations in areas such as ▲scheduled to host the 2025 Gyeonggi Cultural Festival, participating in the Gyeonggi Architecture Culture Award and Architecture Festival ▲architects’ talent donation achievements ▲qualitative evaluation of excellent policies ▲and promotion of city-led meetings and workshops.
Anseong-si, selected as the grand prize winner in Group Ⅲ, received excellent evaluations in areas such as ▲enactment of the ordinance supporting Hanok architecture and establishment of a budget for Hanok support ▲promotion of green remodeling of public buildings ▲establishment and implementation of plans for key provincial projects ▲and introduction of cases selected as excellent policies in 2023.
In addition, ▲Hanam-si’s ‘Outdoor Unit Installation Standards for Heating and Cooling Equipment’ ▲Suwon-si’s ‘Publicly Open Space Design Guidelines’ ▲Goyang-si’s ‘Comprehensive Organization of Cadastral Records’ ▲Bucheon-si’s ‘Construction Site Safety Education Using VR (Virtual Reality)’ ▲Gwangmyeong-si’s ‘Building Energy Information Platform’ ▲and Seongnam-si’s ‘Operation of Deliberation Committee Using Tablet PCs’ were selected as excellent architectural administration policies.
Gyeonggi Province plans to strengthen the substance of architectural administration within the province through this evaluation and share excellent policy cases among regions to provide architectural services that residents can feel.
Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, said, “This evaluation was conducted to enhance the professionalism and efficiency of architectural administration,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create a building environment that residents can trust and contribute to regional development.”
