Dangjin City in Chungnam Province has launched a full-scale snow and ice response plan ahead of the 2024-2025 winter freezing season to ensure road safety.
The city has prepared for prompt snow removal operations by installing additional snow removal boxes along the roadsides.
The newly installed snow removal boxes are placed mainly on major roads and areas prone to frequent icing, allowing citizens to quickly use calcium chloride or sand when it snows or when roads become icy.
In addition, three more automatic brine spraying devices have been installed on mountain passes and sections prone to frequent icing, bringing the total to six locations in operation.
The newly installed automatic brine spraying devices are expected to reduce the risk of accidents by automatically spraying brine on roads where icing is anticipated.
This snow and ice response plan is expected to be more effective as it is linked with the recently established Dangjin City Road Management Integrated Situation Room.
The city also plans to thoroughly prepare for winter to ensure the safety of citizens and minimize inconvenience.
Ko Dongju, head of the city’s Road Division, said, “We have strengthened our winter snow and ice response measures so that citizens can use the roads more safely,” and requested, “Please refrain from parking or stopping vehicles on the road during snowfall, and actively participate in the campaign to clear snow in front of your homes and shops.”
