Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam, once again emphasized that the Jeonnam National Medical School must be established.

On the morning of the 26th, at the Seojaepil Hall of the provincial government office during the department and bureau policy meeting, Governor Kim stated, "Jeonnam, which does not have a national medical school, is very different from the general opposition logic of the medical community regarding increasing medical personnel."

Governor Kim said, "Although the medical community opposed Jeonnam Province's push for an integrated university national medical school, I understand that they also think Jeonnam without a medical school must be accepted," and emphasized, "Now, let's make efforts to persuade the medical community to accept this from the perspective of a complete regional medical system."

He also said, "The integration of Mokpo National University and Suncheon National University is highly evaluated by the central government as a way to scale up and firmly establish future educational development amid the decline in school-age population to create future growth engines," adding, "Let's actively support the integrated university until it achieves results, and especially strategically collaborate with various regional development projects and research and development (R&D) projects of Jeonnam Province to enhance the university's competitiveness."

Regarding the achievement of $3 hundred million in seaweed exports, he said, "Now we need to focus on facility modernization and hygiene," and added, "Also, to strategically foster the seaweed industry, we must make all-out efforts to propose the establishment of the National Seaweed Industry Promotion Institute by cooperating not only with the province but also with experts in the fisheries sector, members of the National Assembly, universities, and the National Institute of Fisheries Science."
