Support Safe Kits for 25 Households Including Local Stalking and Dating Violence Victims
Applications Accepted from the 20th to December 13th via Gwangjin Police Station
Safety Items Provided Such as Smart Doorbells, CCTV, and Front Door Security Devices
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is providing safety equipment to prevent crime and ensure a safe living environment in observance of the Week for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The Week for the Elimination of Violence Against Women originates from the United Nations-designated "International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women" and serves as a period to raise social awareness about violence against women and to reflect on the importance of eradicating and preventing such violence. Since 2020, the Sexual Violence Elimination Week and Domestic Violence Elimination Week have been combined and are held annually from November 25 to December 1.
Accordingly, the district supports practical safety items for households experiencing stalking, dating violence, and other related issues within the community. The five types of equipment include smart doorbells, home CCTV, front door safety locks, voice recognition wireless emergency bells, and digital door locks. The smart doorbell allows users to check via a linked smartphone when the bell is pressed or motion is detected. The home CCTV enables real-time monitoring of the inside of the house from outside. The front door safety lock is an internal locking device that acts as an auxiliary latch.
The support targets 25 households, with final selection made after screening those who are ▲ designated for safety measures by the police due to stalking, ▲ recommended by the police due to concerns about crime victimization, and ▲ victims or potential victims of sexual crimes.
The application period for safety equipment is from November 20 to December 13, and detailed information can be obtained by contacting the Gwangjin-gu Office’s Family Welfare Division.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “In observance of the Week for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we have prepared a set of five safety equipment items to secure the safety of women who are vulnerable to stalking and dating violence crimes. We hope these items will be provided to those who truly need them.” He added, “We will continue to collaborate with the Gwangjin Police Station to create a safe Gwangjin-gu where everyone can live with peace of mind.”
