Gwangyang Economic Zone Authority Shares Investment Attraction Achievements and Work Status

Policy Advisory Committee Meeting... Discussion on Major Policy Development Directions

The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Gu Chung-gon, hereinafter Gwangyang Economic Authority) held the 2nd Policy Advisory Committee meeting of 2024 on the 26th at the Gwangyang Economic Authority Situation Room to share this year’s investment attraction achievements and review the progress of major tasks.


The Gwangyang Economic Authority Policy Advisory Committee is an advisory body established to set mid- to long-term development goals and policy directions, consisting of 20 experts from various fields including regional development, strategic industries, tourism, and port logistics.

At the meeting, the achievements in investment attraction during the first half of this year and the progress of major tasks were shared, with a focus on discussing strategic opinions to strengthen the competitiveness of the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone.


The committee members highly evaluated the Gwangyang Economic Authority’s accomplishment of attracting investments worth 2.03 trillion KRW from 20 companies in the secondary battery, data, and eco-friendly ship sectors this year, creating over 1,400 jobs despite the difficult economic situation, and urged the Authority to take the lead in attracting future growth industries and strengthening support for resident companies.


Gu Chung-gon, Commissioner of the Gwangyang Economic Authority, stated, “We will do our best to supply industrial complexes tailored to corporate investment demands to develop the Gwangyang Bay Area into a hub for future food industries,” and added, “We will carefully reflect the opinions raised at this advisory committee to serve as a foundation for the development of the Gwangyang Bay Area.”
