Laying the Foundation for a Global Network to Spread K-Entrepreneurship
Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City in Gyeongnam Province, has laid the foundation for a global network to spread the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship, the corporate value of the founders of the four major companies LG, GS, Samsung, and Hyosung, worldwide.
Jinju City, the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Foundation, and the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 25th at the University of Utah Asia Campus in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, to promote the global expansion and mutual development of K-Entrepreneurship.
At the signing ceremony, Mayor Jo Gyu-il, Kim Jong-wook, chairman of the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Foundation, and Gregory Hill, director of the University of Utah Asia Campus, attended and signed the agreement.
This agreement was made with the purpose of establishing an organic cooperative system to spread K-Entrepreneurship, the driving force behind South Korea’s economic miracle, worldwide and to inherit and develop it for future generations.
The main contents of the agreement include △ global expansion of K-Entrepreneurship △ cooperation in hosting K-Entrepreneurship forums and conferences △ establishment of K-Entrepreneurship lectures and academic exchange programs △ exchange with local companies and support for K-Entrepreneurship community participation projects.
Through this agreement, Jinju City, the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Foundation, and the University of Utah Asia Campus will mutually cooperate in various fields such as increasing foreign university student participation in the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship International Forum and Youth Forum, developing quality educational programs for nurturing global talent, and revitalizing the local economy.
Chairman Kim Jong-wook said, “It is important to spread the entrepreneurship of the founders of the four major companies Samsung, LG, GS, and Hyosung, which led South Korea’s economic growth last century, worldwide and to inherit and develop it for future generations,” adding, “To this end, we will further develop the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship International Forum and Youth Forum into an international economic forum comparable to the Swiss Davos Forum.”
Director Gregory Hill said, “Utah is becoming a city favorable for startups in the United States, and the goal of this agreement aligns with UAC’s mission,” adding, “We are pleased that the University of Utah Asia Campus can be a leader in creative entrepreneurship and hope to play a key role in the global expansion of Jinju K-Entrepreneurship.”
Before the agreement, Mayor Jo Gyu-il introduced to Director Gregory Hill the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship International Forum and Youth Forum promoted by Jinju City to spread Jinju K-Entrepreneurship, which values human respect and community, as well as Jinju K-Entrepreneurship education for elementary, middle, and high schools, the construction of the Korea Entrepreneurship Hall, the K-Geosang tourism belt commercialization project, and the smart village dissemination and expansion project.
Mayor Jo said, “This agreement will be an important opportunity for Jinju K-Entrepreneurship to leap beyond South Korea into a global vision,” and added, “We will develop the Jisu-myeon area of Jinju City into an international youth startup village where domestic and foreign students come to learn Jinju K-Entrepreneurship.”
