GPU Purchases Included in Semiconductor Loan Program
Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, announced on the 26th the establishment of a special committee to advance South Korea as one of the top three AI powerhouse countries.
At the floor strategy meeting held that day, Floor Leader Choo stated, "AI is a pivotal turning point that goes beyond technology and determines national security," adding, "The year 2025 will be a golden time and a key year for building AI infrastructure."

The Special Committee for Advancing AI as a Top Three Power is chaired by Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, with Choi Hyung-doo appointed as vice-chairman.
Floor Leader Choo said, "The special committee will focus on supporting AI integration into everyday life for all citizens and restructuring industrial sectors through AI adoption, enabling each industry to secure global competitiveness," adding, "We will concentrate on early expansion of AI infrastructure, development and nurturing of core talents, and establishing a sustainable ecosystem."
He continued, "We will establish a national AI computing center through a 4 trillion won public-private partnership investment to make it accessible for private sector use," and said, "Considering the urgency, even before the center is launched, the government will take the lead in purchasing and providing graphics processing units (GPUs) first, and include GPU purchases in the semiconductor loan program."
Floor Leader Choo emphasized, "We will create AI-dedicated loans to promote investment," and added, "We plan to activate private investment by promoting tax credits comparable to those for semiconductors, which are a representative industry of our country." He also stated, "AI competitiveness ultimately depends on talent," and added, "We will strengthen support for core talents by expanding programs to nurture high-level talents and researchers."
