The ‘Soro2-Geumchon30’, an urban planning facility located around 803-22 Geumchon-dong, was first designated in 1989 as a long-delayed urban planning road. Pedestrian safety issues have been consistently raised as nearby stores have been using this road as a parking lot.

In 2020, the city conducted a comprehensive review of the project due to the implementation of the sunset clause on long-term urban planning facilities. Regarding this road, the city recognized the necessity of dispersing traffic volume and establishing a transportation network, and decided to proceed with the ‘Soro2-Geumchon30’ road construction project.

Following the approval of the implementation plan in June of the same year, land compensation was completed in August this year. Construction proceeded smoothly and was completed in November, and the road is currently temporarily open. Official opening is scheduled within the year, which is expected to greatly improve convenience for residents.

With this road opening, the road network connecting Geumchon 5-way intersection, Paju Fire Station, and Paju Senior Welfare Center will significantly enhance accessibility.

Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju-si, stated, “I am pleased that the road, which has been a long-standing wish of Geumchon residents, has finally been opened. This road will facilitate smoother vehicle flow and further ensure pedestrian safety.” He added, “I deeply thank all officials and citizens who cooperated until the completion of the construction.”
