Contract Signed for Supply of 17 Types of Parts
Hanwha Aerospace will supply key components, including the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) developed with independent technology, for the first domestically produced fighter jet, the 'KF-21 (Boramae)'.
Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 26th that it signed a contract worth 473.1 billion KRW with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) on the 25th for the supply of 17 types of parts for the initial mass production of the KF-21.
Hanwha Aerospace plans to supply key components of the propulsion, landing, drive, and fuel systems, including the APU to be installed in the initial mass-produced KF-21 units by 2028. In June, it signed an engine supply contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration for the KF-21's engine, which is considered its heart.
Hanwha Systems has also completed the development of four types of avionics equipment, including the mission computer that acts as the brain of the KF-21, the multifunctional display and voice signal control management system that serve as the pilot's eyes and ears, and the infrared search and track equipment, one of the core devices for which the United States refused technology transfer, and is promoting their supply to KAI.
A Hanwha Aerospace official stated, "We will contribute to self-reliant defense by reliably supplying key components of the KF-21, and actively promote the development of advanced aircraft engines based on foundational technological capabilities such as the APU."
