To secure new technology strategies for deep-tech startups and promote global expansion, super-gap startups, global large corporations, public institutions, and global venture capital (VC) gathered in one place.

This event was organized under the slogan “The Fusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and New Technologies, New Possibilities Drawn by Startups!” to discuss ways to create innovative outcomes by integrating core technologies in 10 new industry sectors, including AI-centered system semiconductors. Compared to last year, the number of side events related to new industry technology forums has been significantly increased.

The opening ceremony began with an experience of excellent technologies from super-gap startups, followed by awards for outstanding startups and collaborating large corporations, and a keynote speech by Professor Toby Walsh from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, a global AI scholar, on the topic of “The Development and Prospects of AI-related Technologies and the Role of Startups.”

Among the super-gap startups, 10 companies including ‘Nota,’ which showed excellent performance in sales and investment achievements this year, four collaborating large corporations such as LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics that supported startup growth, and six distinguished individuals from specialized institutions were awarded commendations by the Minister of SMEs and Startups.

A technology forum was also held where global experts presented and various professional panels including executives from large corporations, VCs, professors, and influencers participated in discussions. The first presenter at the technology forum was Kenneth Freeman, Vice President of the French Legrand Group, a global digital infrastructure company in the AI and big data field, who gave a presentation titled “Human Experience with AI IoT” and led the panel discussion. In the eco-friendly and energy sector, popular science YouTuber Gwedo presented on the topic “Can Science and Technology Solve the Climate Crisis?” which was followed by a panel discussion.

Additionally, side events included a ‘Global Corporate Presentation (IR)’ with participation from 10 global VCs to attract global investment for super-gap startups, a ‘Public Institution Purchase Consultation’ to promote entry into public markets, and an ‘Open Innovation Talk Con’ to foster open innovation with large corporations.

Specialized programs were also operated to support the most in-demand fields for startups by sector, such as the ‘Digital Healthcare Experience Exhibition’ for healthcare startups to find business partners and the ‘Robot Startup Growth Exchange Meeting’ for robot startups to attract investment.

Minister Oh Young-joo of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups stated, “Deep-tech startups in new industry sectors are leading the global economy and driving the development of technology and industry. The Ministry plans to expand and promote related policies such as step-by-step support for super-gap startups, specialized support for AI and fabless startups, and collaboration with large corporations so that deep-tech startups can grow as future growth engines of our country.”
