Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) appointed 132 heads of senior citizen centers in the district as local volunteer coordinators at Seoninbong Hall in Dobong-gu Office on November 21.

The local volunteer coordinators will serve as communication channels between the district and senior centers, managing the operation of the centers and promoting elderly welfare policies. Their activities will begin in January next year, with a two-year appointment period. The term ends when their tenure as senior center heads concludes.

A senior center head appointed as a local volunteer coordinator said, “I am honored to take on this important role following my term as senior center head. I will do my best to ensure smooth communication with the district.”

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I deeply appreciate the seniors with rich experience and valuable insights taking on this important role. I ask each appointed individual to take pride in their position and work diligently for the welfare of the seniors using the centers.”

Until now, the position of senior center head was an unpaid honorary role. They took on various demanding tasks inside and outside the centers, such as maintaining the environment, supporting meals, and handling accounting, without any compensation. However, with their new role as local volunteer coordinators, they will receive a modest activity allowance.
