Safety Management and Working Environment Inspection at Major Construction Sites on the 20th... Strengthening Snowfall Response Capability through Snow Removal Drill on the 22nd
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) conducted safety management inspections at major construction sites and carried out snow removal drill exercises ahead of the winter season.
On the 20th, Lee Pil-hyung, mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, along with district officials, visited the construction sites of the ‘Cheongnyangni Temporary Pedestrian Overpass’ and the ‘Jeongneungcheon Cultural Complex Space’ to closely inspect safety management conditions and the working environment of laborers.
The ‘Cheongnyangni Temporary Pedestrian Overpass’ is a site where final construction is underway. To preemptively address concerns about safety negligence, meetings were held with construction personnel and potential risk factors were examined.
Next, they visited the ‘Jeongneungcheon Cultural Complex Space’ construction site, scheduled to open to residents next spring, to check the progress and the safety management status of workers. The main inspection items included ▲the tidiness around the construction site ▲worker safety management such as wearing safety helmets and safety shoes ▲and potential safety hazard factors.
Additionally, the district conducted a snow removal drill on the 22nd to ensure prompt and systematic response in case of heavy snowfall or other snow removal situations.
This drill focused on pre-inspection and operational testing of snow removal equipment and vehicles, with participation from the Road Department staff and private snow removal service companies. The drill proceeded according to the pre-announcement of the Level 2 emergency snow removal operation, including ▲deployment of lead snow removal vehicles on main and major side roads ▲loading of snow removal agents ▲and deployment of ride-on snow removal machines.
During the simulated heavy snowfall scenario, the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters’ control room monitored the operation status of snow removal vehicles by route in real time, and replenishment work through a temporary forward base upon depletion of snow removal agents was conducted exactly as in real situations.
Dongdaemun-gu plans to strengthen its response capabilities to heavy snowfall through this drill and minimize inconvenience to residents even in unexpected heavy snow conditions.
Lee Pil-hyung, mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Especially in winter, safety is the top priority for both construction sites and snow removal responses. We will continuously inspect sites and prepare thoroughly to create an environment where residents and workers can feel safe.”
