On the 25th, the headquarters explained that after receiving a report from the farm owner the previous day and conducting a detailed examination, they confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza on that day.

With this, the number of highly pathogenic AI cases at poultry farms since October this year has increased to four. The farm raised 14 native chickens and 4 wild geese, reportedly for personal consumption.

In response to the confirmation of highly pathogenic AI at a small-scale farm, the headquarters plans to investigate the biosecurity status of small-scale farms nationwide that are not registered in the Korea Animal Health Integrated System (KAHIS) by the 6th of next month.

They also plan to promote the purchase of poultry from small-scale farms located near high-risk areas such as dense layer hen complexes and migratory bird habitats.

Additionally, telephone surveillance will be conducted on farms with fewer than 100 animals until the 20th of next month, and the implementation status of "Disinfection Days" at 139 traditional markets will be inspected weekly.
