In-depth Discussion on Gyeonggi International Airport Construction Direction, Promotion Strategy, and Resident Communication Plans
Gyeonggi Province held a forum to explore the ‘Gyeonggi International Airport Promotion Strategy for the 100-Year Leap of the Republic of Korea.’
On the 25th, Gyeonggi Province hosted the ‘Gyeonggi International Airport Construction Forum’ at the National Assembly Members’ Office Building, Conference Room 2, with about 70 attendees including nine co-hosting members of the National Assembly, private experts, and residents of the province.

This forum was the first held since the announcement of multiple candidate sites for Gyeonggi International Airport on the 8th, discussing more concrete directions and promotion strategies for the construction of Gyeonggi International Airport based on mid- to long-term national aviation policies.
The forum began with a presentation by Professor Yoo Jeong-hoon of Ajou University titled “The Dream of Korea’s Next 100 Years, Taking Flight with Gyeonggi International Airport.” Following this, a comprehensive discussion was held with Professor Lee Geun-young of Korea National University of Transportation as the chair, where five experts including Yoon Joon-do, CEO of GDE&C Co., Ltd., Moon Mi-seong, Senior Research Fellow at Gyeonggi Research Institute, Shim Joon-seop, Professor at Chung-Ang University, and Park Jin-seo, Head of the Aerospace Traffic Research Division at Korea Transport Institute, continued discussions on airport promotion strategies and communication methods with residents.
Han Hyun-soo, Head of the Gyeonggi International Airport Promotion Team, stated, “Gyeonggi Province expects that Gyeonggi International Airport will not only promote national advanced industries and logistics and revitalize the regional economy but also become a growth engine for Korea’s 100-year leap.” He added, “We will do our best to continuously communicate with local residents and gather public opinion so that the airport construction can proceed in a direction desired by the residents.”
