Busan Urban Corporation Selected as an Excellent Case in the 'Urban Regeneration Resident Contest Project' for Expanding 15-Minute City Communities

Discovering Warm Community Cases... Sharing Achievements and Harmony of 43 Communities

Three Outstanding Villages Selected in Locally Led 'Urban Regeneration Resident Contest Project'

Busan Urban Corporation (Acting President Park Su-saeng) held the ‘Urban Regeneration Resident Contest Project Best Practice Presentation Contest’ on the 21st and selected three exemplary villages as models for local communities.

This contest shared the achievements of 43 village communities over approximately six months and featured presentations from outstanding communities recommended by Busan’s autonomous districts.

As a result of the judging, ▲Ggachigogae Happy Village in Saha-gu (Grand Prize) ▲Meodeure Happy Village in Geumjeong-gu (Excellence Award) ▲Dakbatgol Happy Village in Seo-gu (Excellence Award) were selected as the final best practices.

The communities awarded the Grand Prize and Excellence Awards received prize money of 2 million KRW and 1 million KRW respectively, and incentives will be provided when participating in the 2025 contest project.

The ‘Urban Regeneration Resident Contest Project’ is a customized revitalization support program that helps residents identify and solve local issues on their own. This year, 43 locations in the ‘Busan Happy Village’ and ‘Sanbokdoro Renaissance’ urban regeneration project areas were selected as participants, with a maximum budget of 10 million KRW per village supported.

The Urban Regeneration Resident Contest Project includes the Happy Plus Resident Contest Project and the Busan Village Living Area Revitalization Resident Contest Project.

The villages, led by residents, promoted various projects to revitalize communities and resident facilities, including ▲village schools and lifelong learning education ▲low carbon and energy saving ▲childcare and cooperative parenting ▲multicultural and family-friendly initiatives ▲community meals ▲development of village products and experience programs ▲village festivals, neighborhood photo exhibitions, and market operations ▲village media and newspaper production ▲village environment improvement projects (community gardens, rooftop greening, alleyway cleaning), among others.

Park Su-saeng, Acting President of Busan Urban Corporation, stated, “This contest project has provided an opportunity to promote various region-specific activities and strengthen village community bonds,” adding, “We will continue efforts to create a 15-minute city and a warm community based on urban regeneration.”
