Announcing a Commitment to a Life of Warm Sharing and Service
Through Donating Hair Grown for Two Years at Year-End
Sergeant Kang Seung-yeon, who works in the Public Affairs Office of the Naval Logistics Command (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Logistics Command’), practiced warm sharing by donating 25 cm of her hair, which she had carefully grown for two years, to children with cancer.
Sergeant Kang, who is in charge of photography in the Public Affairs Office of the Logistics Command and captures the activities of unit members through photos, decided to donate her hair while supporting the photography of Defense Daily reports on Navy soldiers who had set an example for society by donating their hair.
Wigs delivered to children with cancer require very careful management of the donor’s hair. Wigs made from hair that may be damaged by dyeing, perming, or other treatments can cause itching and inflammation in children with cancer. Sergeant Kang maintained long hair for the donation and paid special attention to care by using hair essences and oils that are good for hair.
Sergeant Kang expressed her determination to continue living a life of various sharing and volunteering through this hair donation and plans to continuously spread the value of sharing in the future.
Sergeant Kang said, “My hair has become lighter, but my heart is full of pride and satisfaction,” adding, “I hope that my small donation during the cold year-end season will become new courage and warmth for someone.”
