Kim Kyung-ja and Hongcheon Nanumi Volunteer Group Receive First Model Volunteer Award in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon

First Individual and Group Awards of the Year to Promote Volunteerism

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Hongcheon-gun (Governor Shin Young-jae) and Hongcheon-gun Volunteer Center (Director Han Seung-hwan) announced on the 25th that they held the ‘Hongcheon-gun Model Volunteer Award’ ceremony at Hongcheon-gun Office on the 22nd, selecting Kim Kyung-ja in the individual category and Hongcheon Nanumi Volunteer Group in the group category for the award.

The Hongcheon-gun Model Volunteer Award is a newly established volunteer recognition system first implemented by Hongcheon-gun in 2024 to commend the efforts of volunteers who practice warmth sharing through volunteer work and serve as role models in revitalizing volunteer activities in Hongcheon-gun, as well as to encourage continuous volunteer activities.

The first awardee in the group category, Hongcheon Nanumi Volunteer Group (Director Won Dong-wook · Operations Committee Chair Jeon Sang-beom), has greatly contributed to the revitalization of volunteer activities in Hongcheon-gun by practicing specialized talent donation volunteer activities for home environment improvement and repair for single-parent families, grandparent-headed families, and multicultural households.

In the individual category, Kim Kyung-ja (Chair of the Hongcheon Volunteer Association, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Branch of the Korean Red Cross) has contributed to spreading a culture of sharing by consistently volunteering for over 20 years through various activities such as companionship for neighbors in need, delivery of goods, and support for meal service operations.

Director Han Seung-hwan said, “We are grateful to all volunteers who quietly practice volunteer work somewhere at all times, and we congratulate the recipients of the first Hongcheon-gun Model Volunteer Award,” adding, “The Hongcheon-gun Volunteer Center will expand recognition systems for volunteers and always accompany volunteers.”
