"The Damage Will Fall on the People" Warning
Ruling Party Launches Livelihood Economy Special Committee and Poll-Based Primary TF
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, stated on the 25th, ahead of the first trial sentencing for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, on perjury instruction charges, "These kinds of cases are representative of judicial obstruction," and added, "I believe the court will make a strict judgment."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly main building that day, Han said, "Since the prison sentence ruling on the election law on the 15th, Lee's judicial risk is no longer just a risk but has led to actual judicial processing."
Handonghun, the leader of the People Power Party, is speaking at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 25th.
Han criticized the Democratic Party for completely cutting the special activity expenses of the Presidential Office, prosecution, police, and Board of Audit and Inspection during the review of next year's government budget in the National Assembly, saying, "The Democratic Party's emotional tyranny continues." He pointed out, "Just because the leader (Lee Jae-myung) is under investigation by the problematic institutions now, and there is some personal grudge, they have completely reduced the budget they have been allocating to zero, which is emotional retaliation even an elementary school student wouldn't do." He added, "These budgets are ultimately used to catch crimes well and collect necessary information to protect national interests and the interests of the people," and said, "The damage falls on the people."
Regarding the Democratic Party's push to impeach the prosecutors who handled the stock manipulation suspicion case of Kim Geon-hee, he criticized, "If they suspend these people from their duties through impeachment and they cannot work properly, how do they expect to respond adequately to crimes? Again, the damage falls on the people."
Han launched the Special Committee on Livelihood Economy that day. He said, "We need momentum for livelihood recovery and economic growth, and it must be created immediately," adding, "The economy must trend upward, and in the process, the gap must be resolved. If we fail to act now, I believe this is a crucial moment where we could fall behind forever."
Along with this, he also established a Task Force (TF) to improve public opinion poll primaries. This is to create measures to prevent recurrence related to the case of Myung Tae-kyun. Han said, "It is rare to find democratic countries that hold direct primaries through public opinion polls," but added, "The method of holding primaries through public opinion polls has already become a reality regardless of party affiliation. Therefore, it is important that public opinion polls are conducted fairly and without distortion." He emphasized, "Taking the case related to Myung Tae-kyun as an opportunity, the People Power Party will thoroughly inspect the actual conditions of our party's primaries, led by the Yeouido Research Institute director, and will work on institutional improvements so that malicious public opinion polls that distort public sentiment have no place."
