2024 Oceania Trade Delegation Project... Supporting Export of Regional Food Companies
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk announced that the ‘Gumi City Trade Delegation’ dispatched to Melbourne, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand from August 25 to 31 secured export contracts worth $1.46 million (2 billion KRW) as of November 20.
This trade delegation dispatch was promoted as part of the ‘2024 Gumi City Small and Medium Enterprises Overseas Market Development Support Project.’ In June, Gumi City recruited participating companies and selected four promising local SMEs with excellent quality competitiveness for export: Olgot, Nangman Research Institute, Tokkimil, and Seonsan.
These companies achieved a total of 37 export consultations worth $5.37 million (7.4 billion KRW) through one-on-one matching with local buyers in August.
Gumi City collaborated with the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Institute (Director Moon Chuyeon) to pre-identify and match buyers suitable for the companies’ products. In particular, a customized export consultation meeting was promoted by sending participant companies’ products to the local site so that buyers could directly taste the products during consultations.
Additionally, after the consultation meeting, Gumi City further enhanced the effectiveness of the export market development project by providing overseas logistics support for product samples to genuine buyers who showed consultation results and contract intentions. As a result, export contract achievements far exceeded the expected amount, reaching a total of $1.46 million (2 billion KRW).
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “Overseas trade delegation dispatch projects often take time from consultation to contract signing, but this time, we achieved quick results through follow-up measures such as logistics support,” adding, “We will continue to prepare effective support measures to promote overseas market entry and export promotion for SMEs.”
