Special Lecture on the 12th of Next Month... Registration Starts Today
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 25th that it will hold a ‘Human Rights Special Lecture’ on the 12th of next month at 7 p.m. in the 4th-floor auditorium of the Gangbuk-gu Office to widely promote the significance of Human Rights Day (December 10, 1948) and to spread a culture of respect for human rights.
This special lecture will be held for two hours under the theme ‘Stories of Human Rights Uncovered Through History,’ with Shim Yong-hwan, director of the HistoryN Education Research Institute, invited as the speaker.
Director Shim Yong-hwan is actively involved in various broadcasting programs such as KBS’s ‘A Very Historical Journey,’ MBC’s ‘Shim Yong-hwan’s Strolling World History,’ and SBS’s ‘While You Are Fascinated.’ His major works include ‘1 Page Korean History 365,’ ‘The Imagination of the Constitution,’ ‘Kind Korean History,’ and ‘Leveling Up in Joseon.’ Applications to participate in the special lecture can be made on a first-come, first-served basis starting from the 25th of this month through online registration on the Gangbuk-gu website or by phone to the Audit Office.
Meanwhile, from the 9th to the 13th of next month, the district will hold a ‘small exhibition’ in the corridor of the underground 1st floor waiting area at Mia Station and at the Gangbuk Cultural Information Library to commemorate Human Rights Day.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, “We ask for the interest and participation of the residents in this special lecture and small exhibition so that a culture of respect for human rights can be realized in everyday life.”
