Kwon Seong-dong, People Power Party Lawmaker, Appears on MBN Broadcast
Explains Viewing Bikini Photos During Past National Audit
Behind-the-Scenes of President Yoon's 'Cherry Thumbs Up' Text

Kwon Seong-dong (64), a member of the People Power Party, shared his feelings regarding the controversy that arose when he was caught looking at photos of bikini models during a past National Assembly audit. On the 23rd, Kwon appeared on MBN's 'GabojaGO' Season 3 and spoke about seeing photos of women in bikinis during the 2014 audit, saying, "I had already finished my last question. While listening to the other members' questions, I was watching the news. Because I was acting as the secretary, I usually couldn't watch the news. I was looking at the entertainment section, and that's how it happened."

He expressed his frustration, saying, "A Democratic Party aide came behind me, took a photo of my screen while I was looking, and handed it over to a reporter. The next day, the news was plastered with articles about me." He added, "My wife scolded me," and lamented, "Honestly, these days, photos of people in bikinis appear quite often when you pass by."

Kwon also mentioned the 'cherry thumbs-up' incident with President Yoon Seok-yeol. Regarding the exposure of text messages exchanged with President Yoon to the media, Kwon said, "I was very embarrassed. I was fine, but I felt sorry for causing trouble to the President. I apologized, saying, 'I'm sorry the text messages were exposed.' Then President Yoon said, 'It's already spilled water. I understand.' There's no way to take it back."

The text message screen at the time showed President Yoon saying, "Our party is doing well too. We should keep it up like this. The party leader who used to only criticize internally has changed, so things have improved," seemingly referring to lawmaker Lee Jun-seok. In response, Kwon replied, "I will faithfully carry out the President's wishes and show a united front between the party and the government." President Yoon then sent a 'cherry thumbs-up' emoticon. During the broadcast, when asked if he was close to lawmaker Lee Jun-seok, Kwon answered, "Since we are no longer in the same party, it's hard to say we are close, but on a personal level, we get along well."

Regarding the controversy over singing while drinking at a past workshop with reporters, Kwon explained, "The reporters shouted for me to sing a song. So I sang, but the reporter who filmed it gave the video to another reporter. They did such a cowardly thing. It was behavior that went against basic manners. The reporters who attended at the time actually apologized to me."
