Jeongdong Night Tour Wins Silver Award in Video Media Category at Pinnacle Awards

Jeongdong Night Tour, a historical and cultural festival representing Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong), won the Silver Award in the Video Media category at the ‘2024 Pinnacle Awards Korea Competition’.

The Pinnacle Awards is a globally prestigious event known as the Olympics of festivals. Since 2013, the Korean branch of the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) has held the Korea competition to discover and select outstanding domestic festivals and support their growth into global festivals.

Jeongdong Night Tour, held around Jeongdong-gil, a treasure trove of modern and contemporary cultural heritage, has been one of Seoul’s representative festivals attracting numerous tourists every year since its inception in 2015. From 2019 to 2022, the Seoul Metropolitan Government briefly hosted the festival, but Jung-gu resumed hosting it from 2023.

This year’s Jeongdong Night Tour, themed ‘Romantic Jeongdong, Blooming into Spring,’ was held last May. The festival captivated visitors with nighttime openings of 36 historical and cultural facilities including the British Embassy in Korea, historical experience programs and busking performances along Deoksugung Stone Wall Road, and cultural interpretation tours. With about 130,000 visitors, 91% of participants expressed high satisfaction with the festival, demonstrating Jeongdong Night Tour’s popularity.

The award-winning Jeongdong Night Tour documentary video was produced in 2 minutes and 30 seconds, set to the festival’s theme song featuring a lively fusion of traditional Korean music. The video vividly captures key festival scenes throughout Jeongdong, including the charming nightscape, busking and experience programs along Deoksugung Stone Wall Road, drum performances at Jeongdong First Methodist Church, organ music at Seoul Anglican Cathedral, and a concert at Deoksugung Jungmyeongjeon Hall.

In particular, the joyful scenes of people enjoying the festival while strolling through Jeongdong blend warmly and romantically with the visual beauty, allowing viewers to fully feel the festival’s atmosphere. The video can be viewed on the official Jung-gu Office YouTube channel, ‘SeoulJungguOffice.’

Jeongdong Night Tour previously won awards at the Pinnacle Awards for four consecutive years from 2015 to 2018, and this fifth award reaffirms the festival’s prestige.

Mayor Kim Gil-seong stated, “Jeongdong Night Tour has established itself as a representative festival of Seoul, loved by tourists and citizens alike by incorporating modern and contemporary heritage into diverse programs. For those who missed this year’s festival, I hope you enjoy the romantic charm of the festival through the video.”
