Fire Rekindled at Factory That Caught Fire 10 Days Ago, 5 Days After Restart

On the 9th, a fire broke out again at POSCO Pohang Steelworks 3 Finex, and the fire authorities have responded to extinguish the fire.

According to the fire authorities on the 25th, a report was received on the 24th at 11:18 PM that a fire had broken out at the 3 Finex factory within Pohang Steelworks in Jecheol-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk. A fire official stated, "We received a report that there was a lot of smoke from the 3 Finex factory at Pohang Steelworks where a fire had occurred recently." One citizen said, "After hearing an explosion sound, flames rose," and another citizen said, "After hearing a 'bang' explosion sound, flames shot up."

Upon the fire outbreak, the fire authorities dispatched 21 fire trucks and dozens of personnel to the scene to extinguish the fire. So far, the scale of the fire and damages have not been confirmed.

At the Pohang Steelworks 3 Finex factory, an explosion and fire also occurred on the 10th, injuring one employee with burns and damaging equipment. POSCO resumed operations at the Pohang Steelworks 3 Finex factory on the afternoon of the 19th.
