Oh Se-hoon Visits Seoul-style Emergency Treatment Center... "Timely Treatment for Critical Patients"

On the 24th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon visited the Seoul-type Emergency Treatment Center to reaffirm his commitment to responding to the medical crisis. The plan is to systematize the medical system by designating hospitals responsible for patients who are not severely ill but need help due to acute conditions.

After visiting 'The Healthier 365 Clinic' in Yangcheon-gu, designated as a Seoul-type Emergency Treatment Center (UCC), Mayor Oh posted on Facebook, "To prevent emergency room overcrowding, reduce the overwork of medical staff, and ensure that truly critical patients receive timely treatment, Seoul will spare no effort in providing all necessary support for the safety and health of its citizens."

Oh Se-hoon Visits Seoul-style Emergency Treatment Center... "Timely Treatment for Critical Patients" Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon visited 'The Healthy 365 Clinic' in Yangcheon-gu, designated as a Seoul-type Emergency Care Center (UCC), on the night of the 24th. Facebook

Mayor Oh diagnosed, "As the medical gap prolongs, cases of 'emergency room cycling' continue to occur, and anxiety has grown that there will be 'no hospital to go to' on weekends or at night even when feeling sick. With winter approaching, emergency patients are expected to increase further."

He viewed the Seoul-type Emergency Treatment Center as a solution to the current situation. Mayor Oh said, "The Seoul-type Emergency Treatment Center is a new concept, different from existing emergency rooms, implemented for the first time nationwide. It is a place for patients with low severity but who require immediate treatment, ranging from trauma patients with fractures and lacerations to acute illnesses such as high fever, abdominal pain, and vomiting."

He continued, "Medical care is provided every night until midnight by specialists in emergency medicine and essential medical equipment. Starting in Yangcheon-gu and Songpa-gu, two more centers will be established in the future. In addition, a network of four dedicated hospitals providing 24-hour care for specific conditions that were most difficult to accommodate in emergency rooms, such as surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and ophthalmology, has been established," he introduced.

Mayor Oh expressed his determination for a distributed response in the medical system. He said, "Now, severe emergency patients will be handled by large hospitals, mild emergency patients by emergency treatment centers, and moderate patients by dedicated hospitals according to their diseases, systematically distributing responsibilities to respond to the medical system crisis. For this, the cooperation of citizens is crucial," he urged.
