Approximately 3,000 members (estimated by the organizers) of the National Delivery Workers' Union under the Service Federation of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) held a rally on the 24th in front of Exit 4 of Seoul Station, urging companies like Coupang to stop the 'delivery speed competition.'
In their declaration of struggle, they stated, "If we cannot stop Coupang's reckless actions, we cannot escape the threats of delivery speed competition and worsening working conditions," and demanded, "Through holding hearings and other measures, Coupang must be brought into social dialogue and agreement, and the dangerous early morning delivery system must be completely reformed."
Kim Kwang-seok, chairman of the Delivery Workers' Union, mentioned CJ Logistics, which will start seven-day-a-week delivery from next year, saying, "We will protect our own lives so that the working conditions of delivery workers do not regress and so that we are not discriminated against while living as special employment workers."
After the rally, participants marched from Hanjin headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, to the Seoul Central Post Office, and then to the CJ Logistics building in Jongno-gu.
