Globalizing Kimchi at Kimchi Festival... Promoting Ilsan Yeolmu Specialty on the Global Stage
Lee Dong-hwan, mayor of Goyang Special City, attended the 2024 Korea Industrial Exhibition (KoINDEX) held in New Delhi, India, to support the entry of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Goyang into the Indian market and to promote Goyang’s specialty product, Ilsan Yeolmu.

On the 23rd, Mayor Lee attended the MOU signing ceremony for industrial exchange between Goyang-based company D&B and Euro Alliance Group at the 2024 Korea Industrial Exhibition held at Yashobhoomi Exhibition Center in New Delhi, strengthening the Korea-India cooperation network.
D&B is a confectionery and cocoa product manufacturing company located in Goyang. It has grown into an SME with annual sales of 18 billion KRW by expanding online sales and has recently ventured into health bread and pet food businesses.
Euro Alliance Group is a multinational company producing and distributing various products, providing venture capital management, consulting and advisory services for SMEs and startups, and international trade services in the Asian market. Its CEO, Rakshit Mehta, is a member of the Indian Science and Technology Council and has established a cooperative network with the Indian government.
Mayor Lee said, “It is meaningful that Goyang company D&B is taking its first step into the Indian market at the Korea Industrial Exhibition hosted by KINTEX, the leading MICE industry representative of Korea, in India,” adding, “We expect the multinational Euro Alliance Group to play a crucial role in helping Goyang companies enter the Indian market.”
He continued, “India is an important market experiencing rapid economic growth of about 6% annually, and this agreement will be a significant milestone for the globalization of Goyang companies,” and added, “We will continue to actively support local companies’ entry into the Indian market and strengthen economic partnerships between the two countries.”

Afterwards, Mayor Lee attended the side event of the Korea Industrial Exhibition, the ‘2024 Korea Kimchi Festival,’ where he introduced Yeolmu kimchi made from Goyang’s representative agricultural product, Ilsan Yeolmu. The Kimchi Festival featured large-scale kimchi-making experiences, free kimchi distribution campaigns, and kimchi-making lectures.
Participating in the kimchi-making event, Mayor Lee said, “Ilsan Yeolmu is an agricultural product with a crisp texture and rich vitamin C and minerals, recognized for its unique cultivation environment and quality management, and was registered as Geographical Indication No. 115 last May,” expressing his expectation that “the Kimchi Festival will be an opportunity to promote the value of Goyang’s Yeolmu kimchi and Korean agricultural products worldwide.”
Co-hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in India, LG Electronics, and KINTEX, and sponsored by aT Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, the event was broadcast locally and internationally, including India, expanding interest in Korean agricultural products worldwide.
