Despite Access Ban Orders... 50-Year-Old Man's Self-Harm Acts After Visiting Wife's Workplace

A man in his 50s who had received a restraining order due to domestic violence went to his wife's workplace and engaged in self-harm.

According to the Dongbu Police Station in Gwangju on the 23rd, at around 10:22 a.m. the previous day, Mr. A (53) slashed a part of his body with a sharp weapon in a building located in Seoseok-dong, Dong-gu.

The 119 emergency responders who arrived after receiving the report performed hemostasis and transported him to the hospital, where he underwent suturing surgery. It is reported that his life is not in danger.

Mr. A, who had been booked by the police for a domestic violence case, went to his wife's workplace but committed this act after finding that she was not there and he could not meet her.

On the 20th, he was caught in the act for property damage, including breaking a door while intoxicated at his home in Gakhwa-dong, Buk-gu.

After being investigated and released, he was reportedly issued a restraining and no-contact order by the court.

The police plan to conduct a detailed investigation as they have judged that Mr. A, who completed the suturing surgery, poses a risk of self-harm or harm to others, and have taken emergency hospitalization measures.
