A Man in His 40s Sentenced to 4 Years for Attempting to Extort Money from a Woman at Jamsil Baseball Stadium

On the 22nd, the Criminal Division 11 of the Seoul Eastern District Court (Chief Judge Kang Min-ho) sentenced Won (47) to four years in prison on charges including attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "The defendant purchased crime tools such as a stun gun, duct tape, and a folding knife, planned the crime by scouting the crime location and the victim, and approached the victim who was alone. Not only has the damage not been restored, but the victim also appealed to the investigative agency for severe punishment, citing mental distress."

Earlier, Won was indicted on charges of covering the mouth of a woman leaving after watching a baseball game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, around 9:30 p.m. on August 10 and attempting to steal her money and valuables. At the time, he fled when the victim strongly resisted, and was arrested in Incheon in August, eight days after the report.
