Politician's Son Booked on Marijuana Use Charges... Police Investigation Underway

Jeju Police Reported... Case Transferred to Gangnam Station Jurisdiction of Child's Address

The son of Tae Young-ho, Secretary General of the National Unification Advisory Council, has been booked on charges of marijuana smoking.

On the 22nd, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they have booked Tae's eldest son, Tae Mo (34), on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act and are currently investigating.

According to the police, the Jeju Police Agency received a complaint containing these allegations and handed over the case to the Gangnam Police Station, which has jurisdiction over Tae's residence, the previous afternoon.

The complaint reportedly includes details that Tae smoked marijuana in Thailand last September.

Tae is also under investigation for being accused of fraud and other charges for receiving money from acquaintances under the pretext of virtual asset investment and failing to repay it. The amount of damage is reported to be around 1.6 billion won.

Secretary General Tae officially apologized for his son's fraud charges. At last month's National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee audit, Secretary General Tae bowed his head and said, "I deeply apologize for causing social controversy due to the issue with my eldest son."
