This event was organized to provide U.S. soldiers with an opportunity to directly experience and learn about Korean culture at representative facilities of Dongducheon City, such as the natural recreation forest, to promote friendship between Korea and the U.S. and to raise awareness of Dongducheon City.
On the day, the U.S. soldiers began by visiting General Eo Yu-so’s tomb within Camp Casey, followed by experiencing the healing forest at the natural recreation forest and participating in traditional Korean tea ceremonies, allowing them to experience the history and traditional culture of Dongducheon City.
They also had a valuable time learning about Dongducheon City through a session at the Lifelong Education Center, where they shared information about local tourist attractions and food.
Additionally, by making handmade seals engraved with their Korean names, they deepened their understanding of Korean culture through this hands-on experience.
Dongducheon City expects that this event will serve as an opportunity to broaden mutual understanding through exchanges between the city and the U.S. Forces Korea, contribute to revitalizing the local economy, and stated that it will continue to promote historical and cultural experience programs to strengthen Korea-U.S. exchanges.
