Kyobo Securities Holds 75th Anniversary Event "Will Leap Forward as a Mega IB"

Kyobo Securities held a commemorative ceremony on the 19th floor Vision Hall of its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to celebrate its 75th anniversary, the company announced on the 22nd.

The ceremony was attended by Kyobo Securities CEOs Park Bong-kwon and Lee Seok-ki, along with executives, department heads, and about 100 award recipients.


Kyobo Securities was established on November 22, 1949, as Korea's first securities company. As part of its efforts for change and innovation, Kyobo Securities is accelerating its entry into the mega investment banking (IB) sector by implementing three key strategies: ▲Scale up ▲Restructuring ▲New business.


This year, the company posted a cumulative operating profit of 155.6 billion KRW and a net profit of 133 billion KRW for the first three quarters on a consolidated basis, representing increases of 145% and 122% respectively compared to the same period last year. Both operating profit and net profit ranked within the top 10 in the securities industry.


In his commemorative speech, CEO Park Bong-kwon said, “Despite the rapid changes in the financial market environment, we have established ourselves as a trusted financial investment partner through a balanced business portfolio and stable risk management,” adding, “Let all employees internalize change and innovation with one heart to prepare for the upcoming 100th anniversary and achieve a new leap forward.”


At the ceremony, awards were presented to about 82 long-term employees, including five with 30 years of service, as well as branches, offices, and employees who achieved outstanding results in five categories.


Outstanding employee awards went to ▲Park Yun-ho, Head of the Convergence Finance Department (Customer-Centric category) ▲Baek Ki-hak, Deputy Manager of the Risk Management Department (Integrity and Diligence category) ▲Song Hyung-joon, Head of the FICC Operations Department (Challenge and Creativity category). In addition, awards such as the Change and Innovation Practice Award and Long Service Award were presented as part of the anniversary commendations.
