Target Opening in July 2026

Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) announced on the 22nd that following the interim report meeting for the basic and detailed design service of the Cheongpyeong Children's Playground Project held on the 20th, it is now actively promoting the creation of a complex children's play space.

Gapyeong-gun Accelerates Development of Cheongpyeong Children's Playground Park Conceptual plan for Cheongpyeong Children's Playground Development Project. Provided by Gapyeong-gun.

The report meeting was attended by about 20 people, including Deputy Governor Park No-geuk, Gapyeong County Council Chairman Kim Kyung-soo, Council Member Choi Won-jung, officials from related departments, and representatives from the service company.

The Cheongpyeong Children's Playground project aims to prevent local extinction and revitalize the regional economy by attracting family tourists and creating a child-friendly urban environment. It will be developed on a site totaling 16 billion KRW near the former Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, at 84-1 Cheongpyeong-ri, Cheongpyeong-myeon, and plans to include a complex play space encompassing both indoor and outdoor facilities.

The county is promoting the project by dividing it into indoor and outdoor play spaces, considering efficiency, connectivity, and scalability. Among these, the Tourism Division, responsible for the outdoor play space, has completed the basic design and presented the design plan at this interim report meeting.

According to the presented basic design plan, the outdoor play space is largely divided into a water play zone, a toddler play zone, and an adventure play zone. The water play zone will include a water playground, combined play equipment, tunnel fountains, and shower facilities. The toddler play zone will feature a mini zipline, adventure hill, adventure slide, jumping play area, sandbox playground, and a guardian rest area.

Additionally, the adventure play zone will be designed with net-type and rail-type play facilities to allow children of various age groups to experience and enjoy.

Gapyeong-gun plans to finalize the basic design for the outdoor play space by reflecting the opinions proposed at this interim report meeting. Furthermore, a joint community briefing session on the indoor and outdoor play spaces will be held at the Cheongpyeong-myeon Office in December to provide detailed explanations of the project plan to local residents.

A Gapyeong-gun official stated, “We will proceed with the project without any setbacks, aiming to issue construction orders in the first half of next year after completing all administrative procedures,” and added, “We plan to open the indoor and outdoor play facilities simultaneously in July 2026 to provide a safe and enjoyable play space for local residents and visitors.”
