Gapyeong-gun Holds Resident Briefing on 'Gyeonggi Eastern SOC Major Development Plan'

13 Proposals Submitted to Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do

Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) held the ‘Gyeonggi Eastern Region Social Overhead Capital (SOC) Major Development Plan Resident Briefing Session’ at Music Station 1939 Music Hall on the 21st, announcing specific project plans for regional balanced development and infrastructure expansion. About 100 people, including officials from related departments of urban, road, railway, and development projects in Gyeonggi Province and Gapyeong-gun, as well as residents, attended the briefing session.

According to Gapyeong-gun on the 22nd, the ‘Gyeonggi Eastern SOC Major Development Plan’ was prepared to expand the underdeveloped social overhead capital in the eastern region of Gyeonggi Province and strengthen regional competitiveness. In May, Gapyeong-gun proposed 13 major road, railway, and development projects to be included in the plan at a meeting. Since then, the county has made efforts to ensure the successful promotion of the SOC major development plan by holding several consultations with related departments for project inclusion.

Gyeonggi Province plans to collect residents’ opinions on the proposed projects by city and county until the end of November and announce the ‘Final Plan for Gyeonggi Eastern SOC Major Development’ in December.

Park Young-sun, Director of the Construction and Urban Bureau of Gapyeong-gun, said, “Out of the 13 SOC major development proposals submitted by our county to Gyeonggi Province, 11 have been accepted. We held this briefing session to explain the detailed contents to the residents.” He added, “We will continue to cooperate with Gyeonggi Province to ensure that the proposals from our county are actively reflected.”

Meanwhile, the 13 projects proposed by Gapyeong-gun are △ Construction of Local Road No. 364 (Gapyeong-Hyeon-ri) △ Connection of Gyeonggi Northern Metropolitan Expressway (Branch National Road) △ Route change and road construction of National Road No. 37 (Hacheon IC-Goseong) △ Construction of local road between Sangpan and Jeokmok △ Construction project of Jojongcheon Homyeong Bridge △ Extension of GTX from Maseok to Gapyeong to Chuncheon △ Development of Sinsunbong Mountain Tourism △ Construction of Comprehensive Water Leisure Center △ Opening of Gapyeong section of Gapyeong Dulle-gil Trail △ Creation of Hwacheokcheon Road in Gapyeong-gun △ Maintenance of Bukhan River Bicycle Path △ Improvement of Flooded Sections on Bukhan River Bicycle Road △ Release of waterfront area within sewage treatment zone. Among these, the Jojongcheon Homyeong Bridge construction project and the release of the waterfront area within the sewage treatment zone are classified as either excluded or mid- to long-term review projects.
