A Preview of Frozen Kingdom, Inviting You to the Yeongyang Birch Forest

A Hidden Gem-like Place

In the deep mountains of Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, if you go to Jukpa-ri, Subi-myeon, you can experience a pure white world dyed entirely white when the colorful autumn leaves that once colored the white-stretched trees fall and the snow begins to fall at the 'Yeongyang Birch Forest.'

The Yeongyang Birch Forest, which shows a different appearance throughout the four seasons, blends with the snow in winter, and walking along the forest path gives the illusion of being in a winter kingdom.

As word spread among people, tourists began to visit, and to accommodate visitors, access roads have been improved, parking lots established, and eco-friendly electric vehicles are operated to enhance accessibility to the forest.

The forest trails have gentle slopes, making them ideal for walking and enjoying forest bathing, allowing families, couples, or individuals to enjoy nature without any burden.

The 30 cm trees planted in 1993 over an area of about 30 hectares have grown naturally, avoiding human interference, forming the current dense forest and establishing it as a 'National Forest Premium Forest.'

O Do-chang, the county governor, said, “The birch forest is like a hidden gem among Yeongyang-gun’s tourist attractions. Through tailored local demand support projects and business agreements to revitalize the birch tree area, we are developing it into a representative forest recreation tourist destination in Gyeongbuk.” He added, “We want to make it a forest that visitors want to return to and convey the emotions that nature offers to tourists.”
