Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will hold a "Discussion Forum on the Role of Real Estate Brokers in Preventing Jeonse Fraud" at 2 p.m. on the 27th in the main conference room of the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation.


As jeonse fraud cases are rapidly increasing nationwide, related incidents are also rising in the Jeju area, making urgent countermeasures necessary. Accordingly, Jeju Province has organized this forum to seek solutions with relevant experts to establish sound real estate transaction practices.


This forum will analyze various types of housing jeonse fraud and specific response measures, focusing on the preventive activities and scope of responsibility that licensed real estate agents must perform during real estate transactions.


The forum will begin with a keynote presentation on the role of licensed real estate agents in preventing jeonse fraud by Go Seong-chan, president of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province chapter of the Korea Association of Realtors. Professor Yang Young-jun of Jeju National University's Department of Real Estate Management will serve as the moderator.


Panelists include Lee Cheol-bin, co-chairman of the National Countermeasures Committee for Jeonse Fraud and Empty Jeonse Victims; Go Chang-deok, auditor of the Korea Association of Realtors; Oh Ju-hyeok, head of the Jeju branch of the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG); Shin Myung-chul, partner lawyer at Law Firm Beopseung; and Park Jae-gwan, official of Jeju Province.


Yang Chang-hwon, director of the Construction and Housing Bureau of Jeju Province, stated, "Accurate information provision and careful attention by licensed real estate agents are key to preventing jeonse fraud," adding, "We hope this forum will contribute to preventing damage to residents and fostering a fair real estate market."
