On the 22nd, Buyeo County in Chungnam announced that it had received the grand prize in the New Technology Field Expansion category at the "2024 Agricultural Technology Dissemination Innovation Best Practices Contest" hosted by the Rural Development Administration.
In response to decreased yield and quality caused by the increasing number of heatwave days during summer, the county integrated a high-efficiency nutrient solution cooling system into the hydroponic cultivation of leafy and fruit vegetables.
This achievement was recognized for increasing production during extreme heat periods by up to three times compared to existing farms, and more than doubling farmers' income.
An official from the county's Agricultural Technology Center stated, "We will actively introduce and disseminate excellent technologies developed by the Rural Development Administration to ensure the future sustainability of Buyeo agriculture," and added, "We will continue to do our best to increase farmers' income and enhance the competitiveness of Buyeo agriculture."
