Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold the ‘Baeginbaekhyang Garden Festival’ at Omisaengtae Park (77-13, San, Siheung-dong) from 1 p.m. on November 23.

The district has created Omisaengtae Park, covering 18,500㎡, which is 2.7 times the size of a soccer field, around the Siheung Valley area. The festival will introduce the Baeginbaekhyang Garden established within Omisaengtae Park and operate various experience programs to spread garden culture.

Omisaengtae Park consists of the Garden Healing Center and five zones: Water Scent, Flower Scent, Soil Scent, Forest Scent, and Human Scent. The Water Scent zone borders Siheung Valley, and in the Flower Scent, Soil Scent, and Forest Scent zones, visitors can enjoy gardens themed on flowers, soil, and forest, respectively. The Baeginbaekhyang Garden, located in the Human Scent zone, features gardens cultivated by various residents, including students, office workers, and companies.

At the main stage of the Garden Healing Center, there will be a pre-event performance, a screening of the Baeginbaekhyang Garden creation video, and an awards ceremony for 14 teams of resident-participation companion gardens.

Afterwards, participants will move to the resident-participation companion gardens in the Human Scent zone, where residents and the district mayor will create a garden together. They plan to plant three Korean hornbeam trees as commemorative trees, along with shrubs and herbaceous plants.

After garden making, a ‘Garden Rounding’ will take place. Participants can visit citizen gardens, corporate gardens, and artist gardens to admire plants and enjoy a healing time.

On the day of the event, 11 experience programs will be operated in the Forest Scent zone. Participants can enjoy unique crafting experiences such as terrarium pots, herb oils, cypress pouches, and pressed flower hand mirrors.

Additionally, activities such as cane making and flower tea making and sharing for seniors, popping native corn popcorn, and face painting are prepared, allowing residents of various age groups to enjoy the festival.

Residents interested in the festival can watch the event and participate in programs on-site without prior registration.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “This event is a meaningful occasion with residents, providing them with a valuable experience of cultivating gardens themselves and an opportunity to create our district’s beautiful natural environment. We will continue to maintain Omisaengtae Park, so we hope for your continued interest.”
