Focused Budget Allocation on Resident Convenience Enhancement Projects and 8th Term Elected Mayor's Pledge Projects
60.2% of Total Budget Allocated to Social Welfare Sector with 676.8 Billion KRW
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has prepared the 2025 budget at 1.1252 trillion KRW and submitted it to the Jungnang-gu Council on November 18.
The 2025 budget totals 1.1252 trillion KRW, consisting of 1.1081 trillion KRW in the general account and 17.1 billion KRW in the special account, marking a 5.1% increase compared to this year's original budget of 1.071 trillion KRW.
Next year, the focus will be on resident benefit projects that improve the quality of life for residents and the campaign promises of the 8th local government term, through strategic and efficient financial management.
To this end, the district plans to reorganize similar and overlapping projects, low-performance projects, and conventionally implemented projects, and use the resources secured through this to actively invest in ▲building a comprehensive welfare service ▲strengthening the social safety net ▲revitalizing the local economy ▲and reinforcing the foundation for educational development.
Looking at the budget by sector, first, the social welfare sector budget is set at a total of 676.8 billion KRW. This is an increase of 45.3 billion KRW from this year's 631.4 billion KRW, accounting for 60.2% of the total budget. The district will expand universal welfare such as basic pensions and livelihood and housing benefits, strengthen welfare for target groups including the elderly, women, childcare, and the disabled, and newly promote specialized projects such as ▲Jungnang Donghaeng Sarangnet and Academy operation ▲customized health management for the elderly ▲and operation of the Youth Culture and Arts Creation Center.
Additionally, the monthly allowance for national veterans' honor and welfare will be increased from 50,000 KRW to 70,000 KRW, and efforts will be made to build a more detailed social welfare network through ▲improving the treatment of social welfare facility workers ▲and expanding the operation of the Volunteer Center.
Secondly, 12.8 billion KRW will be invested to establish a vibrant economic city foundation. This includes 2 billion KRW for the construction of the Jungnang Fashion Support Center and 1.8 billion KRW for the modernization of facilities in traditional markets and alley-type shopping districts. Furthermore, 5.9 billion KRW will be invested to create quality jobs through the ‘Donghaeng Jobs’ program.
Next, 108.9 billion KRW has been allocated to improve residents' housing environments and urban development. This includes 400 million KRW for the Moa Housing project and 4.4 billion KRW for the construction of the public parking lot in Junghwa 2-dong, aiming for visible results. Additionally, 600 million KRW will be invested in mid- to long-term urban development plans such as the construction of the Myeonmok Line urban railway and the redevelopment of the Sangbong redevelopment promotion district.
In the education sector, 7.4 billion KRW more than the previous year will be concentrated, totaling 27.9 billion KRW. Support for school education expenses has been expanded from 12 billion KRW to 14 billion KRW, and 4.3 billion KRW will be invested in the 2nd Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center, scheduled for completion next year. Additionally, 500 million KRW will be invested in the construction of the Astronomy Science Center to actively promote the project.
Efforts will also be made to revitalize the culture and sports sector. A total of 24.8 billion KRW will be invested, including 900 million KRW for the creation of the Jungnang Rose Cafe and 1 billion KRW for the construction of the Myeonmok Retention Basin Culture and Sports Complex Center. Furthermore, 17.3 billion KRW will be provided to related institutions such as the Jungnang Cultural Foundation for entrusted projects.
Moreover, investment projects for the construction of community center facilities to meet diverse resident needs will continue. A total of 7.5 billion KRW will be invested in the construction of complex community centers in Muk 1-dong and Myeonmok 2-dong, and resident participation and communication will be strengthened through the operation of village vitality centers and the expansion of resident autonomy councils.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The 2025 budget was prepared focusing on strengthening residents' welfare and safety, revitalizing the local economy, and reinforcing the educational foundation,” adding, “Next year, we will actively promote projects that residents can feel in their daily lives.”
