Man Eating the Same Food for 15 Years: "Tired of Countless Choices" A Japanese man has been reported to have maintained the same lifestyle for 15 years. Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP)

The lifestyle of a Japanese man who has eaten the same food and worn the same clothes every day for 15 years has become a major topic of interest.

Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on Kita Go (38), introduced by Japan's TBS broadcasting, and his "decision-free lifestyle." After starting his first job 15 years ago, Kita faced countless decision-making situations at work. According to one study, people make up to 35,000 decisions daily as they live their lives.

Exhausted by numerous choices, he was deeply inspired one day after learning about the daily routine of the world-renowned baseball player Suzuki Ichiro. Ichiro has eaten curry rice every morning for breakfast, exercised at set times, and gone to take a bath after games for over seven years. His goal was to simplify trivial daily decisions to focus more on training and games. In fact, Ichiro recently gained fame as a baseball player, being nominated for the Major League Baseball (MLB) Hall of Fame. Seeing this, Kita resolved to reduce moments of choice at least in his personal life.

Since then, he has eaten the same meal every day: ramen and nuts for breakfast, chicken breast for lunch, and pork with mung bean sprouts for dinner. To compensate for the unbalanced diet, he regularly took nutritional supplements. Moreover, he wore similar styles of shirts and pants daily, and prepared multiple pairs of identical socks and underwear. Minor tasks such as laundry, nail clipping, and shaving were all done at set times.

Kita is reported to have strictly followed this routine for a full 15 years. He explained, "There are no particular downsides to this lifestyle." His life attracted much attention on social networking services (SNS) as soon as it was revealed. One netizen empathized, saying, "I used to agonize over which ice cream flavor to choose, but in the end, they all tasted similar. My worry was just a waste of time." On the other hand, another netizen criticized, "This lifestyle seems too monotonous and boring. He is missing out on many pleasures life has to offer."
