County Council's Policy Speech Outlines 'Next Year's County Administration Direction'

Lee Byeong-no, former governor of Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced the direction of next year's county administration at the 2nd regular meeting of the 333rd Damyang County Council held on the 20th.
In his address to the county council, Governor Lee presented six administrative directions: ▲ Building a vibrant rural area through smart agriculture ▲ Realizing a healthy and welfare city where everyone is happy ▲ Constructing an economically self-reliant city preparing for the future ▲ Creating a cultural tourism city flowing with culture and arts ▲ Establishing a comfortable, safe, and eco-friendly green city ▲ Implementing a leading local era city where residents are the owners.
He also introduced specific policies to realize these goals.
Governor Lee emphasized, “To revitalize the local economy, we will promote the establishment of region-specific leased smart farms and eco-friendly smart livestock complexes, develop the 2nd Damyang General Industrial Complex and food-specialized agricultural industrial complex, and lift development restrictions in designated areas.”
He continued, “We will do our best to advance key projects such as expanding hospital accompaniment services for elderly with mobility difficulties, creating night tourism spaces integrated with culture, constructing the Damyang International Meditation Center, developing the Damyang-eup residential regeneration innovation district, and establishing a flood control park golf course.”
The county has prepared the 2025 budget to support these core policies, increasing it by 7.7% from this year's main budget to 526.5 billion KRW.
Next year's budget focuses on revitalizing the stagnant rural areas, expanding the scope of the core policy ‘Hyangchon Welfare,’ laying the economic foundation to prepare for future food industries, and developing infrastructure for tourism industries flowing with culture and arts.
On the 21st, Governor Lee said, “Through selection and concentration, we will allocate the budget appropriately and prepare for the future of Damyang with a broader and farther-reaching vision based on the solid foundation we have built. I ask for active support and cooperation so that Damyang can leap forward as a key city in the southern region of Korea that attracts national attention.”
