County Governor Kim San, "Doing Our Best with Support from Markets and Shopping Districts"
Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2024 Traditional Market and Shopping District Revitalization Merit Awards’ hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and received a commendation from the Minister of SMEs and Startups.
According to the county on the 21st, this commendation was awarded to local governments that contributed to revitalizing local commercial districts through traditional markets and shopping districts. After a public contest in April and subsequent evaluation, the recipients were finalized in October. Muan-gun was the only local government in Jeollanam-do to receive the award in the local government category this year.

Muan-gun continuously promoted its own revitalization projects such as the 2023 Ministry of SMEs and Startups specialized market development project (foundation for first steps), traditional market facility modernization project, and parking environment improvement project, as well as cultural performances for traditional market revitalization, traditional market shopping campaigns, and Children’s Market Day events.
In addition, by enacting ordinances related to commercial district recovery, such as the Alley-type Shopping District Designation Ordinance, efforts were made to expand the designation of alley-type shopping districts. The 2024 Jeonnam-style Alley Commercial District First Step Support Project and Neighborhood Commercial District Development Center Support Project were selected for the area around the back gate of Mokdae in Cheonggye-myeon, bringing vitality to the depressed alley commercial district, which received high praise.
Governor Kim San said, “This award is the result of joint efforts by Muan-gun and merchants to revitalize traditional markets and shopping districts,” and added, “We will strive to implement various support projects to help revitalize traditional markets and shopping districts.”
