Namyangju City Discusses the Past, Present, and Future of a 'Restorative City'

Restorative Justice Conference Held

Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 21st that it held the "Restorative City Conference" hosted by the Korea Restorative Justice Association (Chairman Lee Jae-young) on the 20th at the multipurpose hall of the Gyeonggi Viewer Media Center.

This conference was organized to discuss practical cases and future plans to realize a safe and peaceful community based on restorative justice.


The event was attended by about 70 people, including officials and citizens from △Korea Restorative Justice Association △Restorative Life Education Research Association △Byeollae W Stay Cooperative △Namyangju Southern Police Station △Guri Namyangju Office of Education. In addition, over 100 members nationwide also participated in the conference via online Zoom, sharing various practical cases and discussing ways to promote coexistence and harmony.


Hong Ji-seon, Deputy Mayor of Namyangju City, stated, “Namyangju City will take a leading role in creating a peaceful and harmonious local community together with its citizens based on restorative justice. In particular, we will do our best to ensure that young people grow up healthily and that the local community can develop into a more peaceful community through understanding and communication.”


Taking this conference as an opportunity, the city plans to strengthen the practical measures of restorative justice and create a "Namyangju-type Restorative City Model" through cooperation with various organizations.
