Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 21st that it held the ‘2024 Sharing Love Kimchi Making’ event at the district office plaza on the 20th.
Started in 2000 and marking its 25th year this year, the ‘Sharing Love Kimchi Making’ event is a meaningful occasion where the Saemaeul Women’s Association delivers kimchi made with love and warm hearts to neighbors in need, such as children from single-parent families, grandparent-headed households, and ‘elderly living alone’.
This year’s event was organized by the Seocho-gu Saemaeul Women’s Association and sponsored by Seocho-gu, Hoban Group, Seocho Central Saemaeul Credit Union, and Yeongcha Company. In particular, Hoban Group supported the event by donating 500 boxes of kimchi and having over 50 employees participate, making the event even more abundant.
At the venue, about 100 volunteers started early in the morning to prepare over 700 boxes of kimchi. The kimchi made will be delivered to 700 low-income and marginalized households in the area, expected to provide warm and strong support to help them endure the cold winter.
Song Young-bok, president of the Saemaeul Women’s Association, said, “I hope that neighbors in need can enjoy kimchi filled with love and sincerity and stay warm throughout the winter.”
Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “I thank everyone who participated in the event to practice neighborly love despite their busy schedules,” and added, “I hope the kimchi made with sincerity will be delivered as warm love to neighbors in difficult circumstances.”
