South Korea Appointed as Green Climate Fund Board Member for 2 Years

South Korea will hold a director position at the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in 2025 and 2027, and serve as an alternate director in 2026.


The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 21st that at the 'United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29)' currently underway in Baku, Azerbaijan, the board of directors for the 5th Green Climate Fund term (2025?2027) was decided accordingly. This is the first time South Korea will serve as a director for two out of three years.


The Ministry emphasized, "With the extended term of directorship, we will strengthen our role in supporting countries vulnerable to climate change," adding, "Relevant ministries will cooperate to support our companies and workforce to actively participate in projects related to the Green Climate Fund."
